Official start to the swim season! Part 2 - Time Trials
May 3rd
SIGN UP FOR TIME TRIALS!
- Time Trials is Saturday, May 7- Our Time Trial meet will be this Saturday, May 7 at Winchester. You can find a map to the pool, along with parking rules, on our website under the Pool Maps tab.
- You must sign up for your events by Wednesday, May 4 at midnight. If you haven’t signed up yet, go to our website and click on the tab that says Swim Meets- Schedule of Meets. The first meet listed is the Time Trials meet. To enter events for your swimmers, click the first little icon that looks like a swimmer (says Meet Entries when you hover over it). Choose each swimmer and add their events. Be sure to SAVE! For this meet only, your swimmer can swim as many of the events as he/she is ready for. We recommend signing up for any event you plan to swim at any point during the season. If you miss the sign-up deadline for any reason, just email Laura Lee at [email protected] . We allow late entries only for this time trial meet!
- Swimmers need to check in at the pool between 6:45 and 7:10. When you arrive, you will see our team area right outside the pool gate near the parking lot, playground, and tennis courts. Find the tent for your age group. After you drop your stuff, find our sign in table. Swimmers will “circle in” by circling their names on the event sheets on the table. This is how we know who is here. Parents will each have a name tag (so we can get to know each other by name, rather than as “Jake’s mom” etc). There will also be a place at that table for volunteers to check in. Be sure to sign by your name so you can be granted credit for your volunteer work.
- If you are running late, be sure to text me and we will circle your swimmer in for you. Mary (713-301-1014)
- Time Trials will start at 8:30, and we anticipate that it will end around 1:30. There are no relays during the time trial meet.
- Make Up Time Trials- If you cannot attend the Time Trials meet on Saturday, parents will be responsible for recording times for their swimmers at practice this week (any day Monday-Friday) or next Monday, May 9. We will not have practice that day due to team pictures, but you can use the pool to get your times finished up. Beginning Tuesday you can pick up a Time Trial form from one of the coaches or pool monitors. Time your swimmer as he/she swims each event. Return the completed form to the coaches or a pool monitor by Monday, May 9 at the latest.
- Team Pictures on Monday, May 9- Our photographer, Sock Monkey Photography, specializes in green screen technology. This means that each swimmer will take 2 photos, one for the individual shot and one that will be used for the team photo. Look for the order form and timing details via email later this week. We ask that you wear your team swim suit for the picture…which brings me to the next item…
- Team Swim Suits- If you ordered your suits at the team fitting a few weeks back, I anticipate they will be delivered today, therefore we will pass them out at swim practice throughout the week. This is the case for swim caps that were preordered as well. Please note, team suits are not required for swimmers.
- Safety Items- Please be sure to obey traffic laws in all 3 neighborhoods, including speed limit, stop signs, and fire hydrants. We do not want to wear out our welcome! Also, remember that swimmers should not be swimming in the pool unless it is their practice time. The coaches are only monitoring the practice lanes. The exception to this rule is if you are a resident of the neighborhood that we are practicing in.
- Volunteer Slots- If you still need volunteer slots, keep checking back in as more opportunities have been added and some people have dropped/changed shifts. Remember, everyone that completes Time Trials at the meet on Saturday will be able to drop one shift as well (please wait until after the meet!).
Thank you,
Mary
