Bulletin #5

BULLETIN # 5
Way to go LOE Dolphins! We won the meet on Saturday, LOE-366 to CYM-278. You can view the detailed results if you go to our home page and look in the Links section on the top left. We are working on uploading our results to the site, but we are currently getting an error message…as are most teams. Have I mentioned that this web interface is new and it still has some bugs???

  • Meet Sign Up- Be sure to sign your swimmers up for next Saturday’s meet by Monday night. Since the upload has not yet gone through, the times you will see are still reflective of time trials, but they should be updated soon. They will be updated before relays are selected and before the meet is seeded for Saturday. Be sure that you actually go to the “Meet Entry” icon and select the events for your swimmers. The RSVP feature for the meets is only necessary if you need to leave a note for the coaches. Please refer to Bulletin #4 (available on our webpage) if you need more clarification.
  • Meet Sign Up Part 2- Now that the swimmers all have times entered, you can also go ahead and sign up for the rest of the meets for the season. You can always go back in and adjust/change events prior to the Monday deadline, but this way at least you are sure not to forget and miss the deadline.
  • LOE Dolphins vs. The Woodlands Riptide- We are looking forward to another fun meet on Saturday, May 23. You can find all of the details under the Pool Maps section of our webpage. The address is 3883 S. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands, 77381. Parking is across the street at McCullough Jr. High School (3800 S Panther Creek Dr.). Our LOE Team Set-up is in Pavilion by pond and all grassy areas on East side of pool. Our warm-up will be from 7:45-8:15, and the meet will start at 8:30. Remember, swimmers MUST circle in at the sign in table between 6:45-7:10. If you are running late, text Mary (713-301-1014) or Sarah (713-398-6522) to let us know you are on your way. Swimmers who have not checked in are scratched (removed) from the meet at 7:30.
  • Pep Rally- We have our first pep rally on Friday night! Please be sure to RSVP if your family is coming so that we can have an accurate count for planning purposes. To RSVP, just click on the RSVP icon that is listed next to the event. If you have already RSVPed, you will see a little green dot in the corner of the icon. The pep rally will start at 7:00 and we will have an altered practice schedule, as follows:
    4:25-5:10 – 11&Up Swimmers
    5:15-5:45 – 7&Under Swimmers
    5:50- 6:20 – 7&8 Swimmers
    6:25-7:00 – 8-12 Swimmers
Please attend the practice that best meets the needs of your family.
  • Products- Check out the Products section of our webpage for some perfect items to show your LOE spirit! You can order and pay via PayPal right from our website. The items will be distributed by Carolina Gonzales and Donna Hunt. We will have the team t-shirts and the ladies tank tops available at the Pep Rally on Friday, if you have not yet picked yours up.
  • Lost and Found- We are starting to collect quite a lot of Lost and Found items. We have a clear plastic tub at each pool where we will stow the misplaced items. If you are missing goggles, please check with Coach Amanda, as she usually picks up any goggles that were left at practices. Any items not claimed by the end of the season will be donated. Speaking of Lost and Found, we are missing one of the Team Parent clipboards from the 6&Under girls. If it ended up in your possession, please pass it on to one of the board members so we will have it ready for next week.
  • Team Photo- If you missed out on ordering a team photo for your child, order forms are still available. Just look in the Links section on our home page.  We took pictures of all swimmers who were anywhere near the vicinity of the pool last Monday.
  • Volunteer Shout Out- A HUGE thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make the meet run smoothly on Saturday. I think we were all a little surprised about how much work goes into setting up for a home meet, but we did well and hosted a great event! We are so appreciative of those of you who step in and help out when we need it most...you know who you are!
  • Volunteer Sign Up- We still have open volunteer slots for Saturday’s meet…go ahead and sign up if you are available to help. As you may have discovered, staying active during the meet makes the time just fly by! The deadline for volunteer slots is Tuesday at midnight, so that we have the rest of the week to beg and plead for help as needed.
  • Volunteer Credit for Time Trials- We have entered an extra volunteer slot for any family whose children completed their events at the Time Trial meet at Winchester. This means that every family is still responsible for completing 7 volunteer “points” by the end of the season, but this Time Trial entry will count as one of them if you attended. If you have any questions about volunteer credit, please check in with Kara at [email protected].
  • Facebook- Did you know we have an LOE Swim Team Facebook page? If you would like to be added (it is a “secret” group, available only to families we personally add for privacy reasons), please send an email to Kara at [email protected]. This is a great place to share photos of our spirited swimmers!
  • Ribbons- Be sure to check the Ribbon Box to pick up your ribbons and any other information that we need to distribute. Each family has a file within the box with their name on it. If you feel you are missing ribbons, please contact Ann Leger at [email protected].You can find the Ribbon Box at most practices, usually sitting on one of the tables near the entrance. It is a little challenging to get it back and forth between all 3 pools, so please be patient if it is not available when you expect it. We also have it at the meets, usually available near the sign in table in the mornings.
  • Memorial Day- We will NOT have practice on Monday, May 25 due to the Memorial Day holiday.
