BULLETIN #9

We had a convincing victory over Copperfield this week, 384-271. We are going into the Divisional meet with just one loss (to Bridgeland) and by just 20 points. The Divisional meet should be lots of fun, and we are expecting many fast swims from our athletes!

  • Divisional Meet Sign Up- Sign up today! Even if you ‘think’ you already signed up, please double check it today. We’ve had a few people over the last few weeks who found out that their swimmers were not actually signed up for the meet when they thought they had done it earlier in the season. We think it is because it is fairly easy to forget to save at the bottom of the window. Once we exchange the meet with the other teams on Wednesday night, no changes can be made. None. Nada. No exceptions. So, why don’t you double check your entries TODAY??? Entries must be submitted by Monday at midnight on our website.
  • Divisional Location- The Divisional meet will be held at CyLakes High School on Saturday, June 2o. This is a change from the original location! The teams will be set up outside on a grassy area, but the pool is an indoor, 6-lane pool. There will not be room to stay “camped out” as a spectator, so you will have to spend most of the time outside in the team tent areas. You know who does get to stay inside during the meet…the ribbons, runner, and hospitality volunteers! What a great volunteer opportunity, especially at the end of the meet when it is hot outside…(Yes, this is a plea for volunteers! Sign up to help out if you can.)
  • Divisional Volunteers- Please double check your volunteer slots. Our template was built before our actual volunteer needs were determined by the division. We have made some adjustments to slots to match our required obligations. If you see an open slot that works for you, jump on it! We need your help.
  • Divisional Eligibility- All swimmers are eligible to swim in this meet, as long as they have participated in at least 2 of our dual meets. True, it is a little longer than a normal meet, but you will love the energy and the spirit of competition! The Divisional meet usually ends between 3:00-4:00, rather than our normal 1:30. Each swimmer can select 3 individual events. This meet does involve some strategy on the coaches’ part, so please be aware that they may change events for the benefit of the team. Please let them know if there are any events that you really, really want to keep, like if you are almost qualified for Ponderosa and need to drop those last few tenths of a second.
  • Divisional Relays- Each team is only allowed to submit one relay team for each age group. So, normally we try to build an A, B, and C relay…here we will only have our A relay.
  • End of Season Banquet- Our banquet will be at the Lakes on Eldridge pool on Monday, June 29 from 5:30-9:30. Sign up details will be posted soon. We are looking forward to a tasty dinner from Carrabba’s, swimming, trophies and awards, a slide show of the season, and lots of family fun.
  • Post Season Invitationals- We participate in 2 post season invitational meets, Ponderosa (for our crazy fast swimmers) and Trinity (the times to qualify for this one are more attainable). The links are already available on our website, so go ahead and sign up if you would like to attend. You can still qualify at the Divisional meet (this will be a “fast” pool, so you can expect some dropped times), and our sign up deadline for these meets will be Sunday, June 21 at 9:00am. There is a $5 fee for each event your child swims, and you will be invoiced after our entries are submitted. We will try to build relays when possible, and the team will pay those entry fees.
  • LOEST Board- If you are interested in joining our LOEST Board, please let Mary Granado ([email protected]) know. She will be leading our nominating committee. We will all vote on the new board at our End of Season Banquet on June 29.
  • Did I mention that you should sign up for Divisionals TODAY????
